Harris County Jury Orders 3M to Pay $61.5M in Houston Explosion Case
A Harris County jury ordered 3M to pay $61.5 million to surviving victims of a Jan. 24, 2020 Watson Grinding explosion in northwest Houston. The blast killed three people and damaged hundreds of nearby homes and businesses. 3M disputed the verdict and continues to deny responsibility. More than 2,000 plaintiffs await trial; a CSB report later linked the blast to a degraded hose leaking propylene.
