HAL and Safran sign contract to co-develop Aravalli engine for Indian military helicopters

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Safran Helicopter Engines have signed a contract to jointly develop the 3,500–4,000 shaft horsepower Aravalli copter engine for HAL’s Indian Multi-Role Helicopter and its naval variant. The work covers design, development, manufacture, supply and lifecycle support via the 50:50 SAFHAL joint venture, with production planned at Tumakuru, Karnataka, and design completion targeted for 2032-33.
