Grindr to Pay £26m Settlement Over Alleged HIV Data Sharing
Grindr will pay £26m to settle a High Court lawsuit alleging it shared users’ personal information, including HIV status, with third parties. The company said the settlement involves no admission of liability and relates to pre-2020 practices while it was owned by Kunlun. It acknowledged UK users’ distress and loss of trust, and the claims cite prior UK privacy law breaches, after earlier revelations, a £5.5m Norway fine, and a UK ICO reprimand.
