Google, Tesla, Sunrun and PG&E launch California virtual power plant programme
PG&E described SHARE as a proof-of-concept virtual power plant designed to improve reliability, expand capacity, and better use home energy resources with continued grid investment. The programme will enroll about 21,000 flexible devices, with potential deployment of 12MW at peak demand. Customers may receive discounts on Carrier systems and Sunrun customers get a per-battery incentive, while Rewiring America works with local installers. Senate Bill 905 would set a grid utilisation metric for California’s distribution network segments.
