Beginning August 30, Google will stop using manual demotions for site-reputation abuse in the European Union, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein. The move reduces exposure under the EU DMA, where a violation can trigger penalties up to 10% of worldwide annual revenue. Regulators previously said enforcement could hit legitimate publishers, and softer oversight could allow more parasite pages that degrade Search over time.
