Google DeepMind Hires Mechanize Team to Strengthen Chatbot Coding

DeepMind research scientist Tamay Besiroglu joined after co-founding Mechanize, and more than a dozen ex-Mechanize employees moved to Google, largely working on midtraining for chatbot development. Google was reported to be negotiating a deal worth over $1.5 billion for Mechanize’s technology and staff. In May, DeepMind also agreed to hire 20+ researchers from Contextual AI for $80–$90 million as AI competition intensifies.
