Georgia Power Wins Approval to Supply OpenAI’s 3.2-GW Effingham Load
Georgia Power received regulatory approval for a contract to supply OpenAI’s planned project in Effingham County, Georgia, adding up to 3,200 MW of demand. The deal lets the utility curtail deliveries during periods of peak system load, limiting new generation needed just for growth. Expected customer savings total about $950 million annually from 2029 and $2.847 billion in benefits over 2029–2031.
