Fujitsu developed a prototype quantum computer using tin-vacancy (SnV) centers in diamond crystals as qubits on a chip, described as the first such on-chip SnV integration. The work includes heterogeneous bonding to attach diamond and silicon with an alumina oxide film and processes to thin diamond for scalability. The qubits still require cryogenic operation near absolute zero.
