Ford overhauls Louisville plant to build Fathom EV truck and add jobs
Ford will use its Universal EV Production System to build the Fathom midsize electric truck at an overhauled 3-million-square-foot Louisville plant, assembling the truck in three sections and speeding production by 40%. The work is part of a $5 billion investment creating 4,000 jobs in Kentucky and Michigan, alongside new automation. Ford also plans to use Apple Maps software for self-driving technology and recalls nearly 420,000 Expedition and Navigator SUVs for a seat-belt locking issue.
