FDA Approves AstraZeneca’s Breast Cancer Pill for Genetically Driven Metastatic Disease
AstraZeneca’s camizestrant (Etcamah) received FDA approval through an accelerated pathway for women with genetically driven metastatic breast cancer. The pill can be used with other cancer medicines and works by blocking estrogen to slow tumor growth, delaying progression by more than six months. Treatment requires an FDA-authorized test for the relevant mutation. The FDA had previously rejected it via an advisory panel vote.
