FAA Orders Inspections of Hundreds of Boeing 737 Max Jets for Potential Cracking

The FAA has issued an airworthiness directive ordering inspections of certain Boeing 737 Max 8, Max 9 and Max 8-200 jets for possible fuselage skin and bear-strap cracking. Boeing said the issue has not been seen on the Max fleet but extended checks due to shared design and manufacturing. The AD covers an estimated 471 U.S.-registered aircraft and takes effect Sept. 10, 2026.
