Exxon expands Permian automation to raise output toward 2.5M bpd
Exxon reported record Permian output above 1.8 million bpd in Q2 and plans to push production toward 2.5 million bpd by 2030. It is operating automated rigs and targets converting half its fleet to automation by 2028 to improve drilling speed, efficiency, and workers safety, though concerns remain over steep well declines. Q2 total output eased to 4.5 million boepd, and an extended Hormuz blockade could cut output further.
