EU Court Rejects Vodafone Unilateral Contract Changes Based on Telecom Code
The Court of Justice ruled that telecom providers cannot use the EU electronic communications code alone to authorize unilateral changes to customer contracts. The decision, in a case brought by Germany’s consumer federation against Vodafone, distinguishes contract-variation authority from the customer cancellation right and does not award refunds. National proceedings must still apply the ruling to relevant contracts and grounds.
