Ericsson was selected to supply NTT Docomo with its latest-generation radio access network compute platform for 4G, 5G and 5G Advanced, including a high-capacity RAN Processor 6672 said to be a first for Japan. The design uses in-house silicon for an AI-native, programmable architecture, with smaller size, higher capacity and less power; commercial deployment began in July 2026.
