CMS will expand Medicare coverage for TAVR in people with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis and will review evidence for TAVR in aortic regurgitation. In a prompt-treatment cohort, 26.8% had death, stroke, or cardiovascular hospitalization vs 45.3% under watchful waiting. Medtronic shares fell about 1%. Edwards called the policy an important step for access and heart-team–guided, timely care.
