Duke Energy reports widespread outages as storms hit Charlotte region

Power outages from rain and severe storms affected the Charlotte region, with more than 46,000 Duke Energy customers without electricity across the Carolinas by 10 p.m. Aug. 21. Chester County, South Carolina, saw 3,600+ customers out, and over 70 outages were reported for Union Power Cooperative members. Duke Energy shared safety guidance for downed lines and hazards.
