Duke Energy Rate Proposal Could Raise Bills for North Carolina Poor
Duke Energy’s latest bid to raise North Carolina electric rates is being contested as the average residential customer could see about $10 more per month in January, while some of the poorest families may pay much more. Since early 2024, the Duke Customer Assistance Program has provided a $42 credit for tens of thousands, but an advocate says it should be made permanent and Duke has not moved to do so.
