Duke Energy Progress reaches deal for lower-cost North Carolina power
Duke Energy Progress will add $10 million for customers most in need and, under a new Multiyear Rate Plan refund rider, will return money with interest if planned infrastructure upgrades miss deadlines. It will accelerate $120 million in annual federal tax credits tied to efficient nuclear, solar and hydro generation, and reduce Roxboro Steam Plant reliability upgrade costs with federal funding. Rates are subject to NCUC review for a Jan. 1, 2027 start.
