Dominion Energy proposes $67B merger to expand regulated utility
Dominion Energy and NextEra propose a $67B merger to strengthen financial and purchasing power as electricity demand grows. If approved, the combined business would become the world’s largest regulated utility, serving accounts across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. The firms plan $2.25B in bill credits for customers for two years. Rate-setting in Virginia would remain under the Virginia SCC.
