Diabetes device firms Dexcom and Abbott are waiting for CMS to expand Medicare coverage of continuous glucose monitors to people with Type 2 diabetes who do not take insulin. Abbott CEO Robert Ford said the U.S. Type 2 expansion could add about 10 million Medicare recipients and increase commercial coverage, while Dexcom expects a CMS decision before year-end with effect in mid-2027.
