UnitedHealth sued The Guardian in June 2025 after an investigation alleged the insurer paid nursing home staff bonuses to reduce hospital transfers for Medicare Advantage patients. UnitedHealth denied wrongdoing, calling the reporting anecdotal and inflammatory. In July 2026, a Delaware Superior Court judge dismissed all six defamation claims, ending the lawsuit.
