DCDRC Orders Star Health To Pay ₹94,000 for Wrongful Claim Denial
The Kangra District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission held that Star Health cannot overrule a treating doctor’s decision to hospitalise a patient using its own medical assessment, calling the claim rejection illegal and a deficiency in service. Gurdeep Singh complained after his minor son’s hospitalisation for acute fever with thrombocytopenia and elevated liver enzymes. The child was treated until Aug 17; bills totalled Rs 58,729, and the commission ordered Star Health to pay ₹94,000.
