Daikin Expands India Manufacturing Capacity as Room AC Demand Grows
India’s room air conditioner market is shifting from luxury to a structurally significant consumer-durables category, though household penetration remains relatively low. Daikin’s Chairman and Managing Director Kanwaljeet Jawa said the company is expanding manufacturing capacity in India to capture long-term demand and expects commercial refrigeration could reach about ₹1,000 crore annually by 2030. Competition includes Voltas, with over 2 million AC units sold in FY24.
