CXMT has produced HBM3E high-bandwidth memory for the first time, in small quantities, and shipped it to domestic AI chip designers including Alibaba for qualification testing. Production is under way in September 2026—about a year earlier than the previously stated 2027 target. US export controls aimed at HBM, tightened in December 2024, have not prevented HBM3E from reaching this stage, though CXMT still lags leading makers by 2 to 5 years.
