Cummins’ Hybrid Electric Retrofit, powered by First Mode Technology, is deployed at Lundin Mining’s Caserones copper mine as a commercially viable hybrid-electric upgrade for ultra-class haul trucks. The system captures and recovers braking energy to reduce fuel use and Scope 1 emissions without external charging infrastructure. Cummins also received a Mining Magazine Awards 2026 climate and environment honor for the retrofit.
