Court Rejects Photographer’s Copyright Claim Against Getty Images

A photographer who previously freelanced and later became a staff photographer for AFP said he owned copyrights to thousands of images and notified Getty. Getty argued the employment contracts assigned copyrights to AFP and that its licensing deal with AFP allowed Getty to license the photos. The court agreed, dismissing the copyright claim against Getty and noting the contract was available before he signed.
