Oxford doctoral student Lyle Hopkins won in Oxford County Court against SSE Energy Supply after it pursued an alleged unpaid unit 8b bill he said he did not owe. Representing himself, he used AI to test the company’s assertions and prevailed on July 17, receiving £1,087.88 with expenses and interest. Hopkins says SSE later sent another payment demand despite a ruling warning further pursuit would be harassment.
