Colorado PUC Cuts Xcel Energy Natural Gas Rate Increase Request
The Colorado Public Utilities Commission issued a final decision Sept. 4, 2026, reducing Xcel Energy’s proposed natural gas rate increase via an approved settlement. The annual revenue increase was lowered to $122.7 million from $190 million, with residential rates rising 8.6% ($5.16/month) and small business rates 9.2% ($22.76/month). A $5 million shareholder-funded Gas Affordability Program is also approved, with new rates taking effect Oct. 6.
