Chemours will pay North Carolina and 11 local entities $455 million over 15 years for PFAS contamination tied to and beyond its Fayetteville Works plant. The state will receive $75 million and local governments $380 million, with payments beginning this year; Cumberland County gets $161.5 million. The attorney general valued the total at $590 million, citing DuPont’s additional reserve fund after alleging years of damage and deception.
