Chemical Spill Reported at Duke Energy Power Plant on Anclote River
Duke Energy alerted Florida environmental regulators about a sodium bisulfite spill at its Pasco County power plant near the Anclote River. A technician found about 3,200 gallons leaking outside the facility onto soil and asphalt. Duke Energy said none reached the river and on-site cleanup was nearly complete. Regulators confirmed no impacts to nearby waters, with the plant operating under a groundwater quality exemption.
