CenterPoint crews restore power after lightning storms hit Houston
CenterPoint Energy crews are working to restore power after severe thunderstorms across the Greater Houston area triggered more than 24,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. Wind gusts reached 40 to 50 mph in several locations. Since 3 p.m., about 52,000 customers lost power, and roughly 30,000 have been restored, with fewer than 20,000 still without service as crews continue through the evening.
