CATL Retains Top EV Battery Slot as Global Share Holds at 39.9%
In January–July 2026, seven Chinese firms held 72.8% of global EV battery installations. CATL retained the top spot with 289.6 GWh installed, up 26.6% year-on-year, while BYD ranked second at 106.7 GWh but saw share slide to 14.7% from 16.9%. The gap between CATL and competitors widened, with growth also rising in Europe, China, Asia outside China, and South America.
