Caterpillar Expands Engine and Generator Capacity for AI Data Centers
Caterpillar is modernizing and investing about $275 million to build a Mason County facility to supply power for AI data centers, adding 100 jobs. The first phase will deliver 1.35GW for a Microsoft site using Nvidia GPUs, with capacity up to 8GW by 2031. The company is also adding larger natural-gas-powered generators for primary use, while Ford grows its data-center-related revenue share to 21%, helping lift US manufacturing output.
