Carrier to supply heat pumps for PG&E SHARE virtual power plant
PG&E unveiled SHARE, a virtual power plant in California expected to turn about 21,000 homes into coordinated grid capacity by linking batteries and smart appliances. Carrier Global will supply battery-enabled heat pumps to store and shift electricity use, while PG&E plans, analyzes and validates customer impacts and long-term benefits. Google is expected to fund the project, with customers able to share economic gains.
