California Regulators Approve Charter’s $34.5B Acquisition of Cox
California regulators voted to approve Charter Communications’ $34.5 billion acquisition of Cox Communications, the final required step for the merger to become official. Federal approval came in February. Announced in May 2025, the deal positions Charter as the country’s leading internet and video provider while keeping Spectrum News under Charter. Spectrum will serve as the Cox community brand, with headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and a presence on the Cox Atlanta campus.
