BYD Exports Boost Margins as First-Half Revenue Falls

BYD reported 344.8 billion yuan revenue in the first half of 2026, down 7.13% year on year, with 181.3 billion yuan from outside China. Car exports rose 70.6% to 792,256, and overseas vehicles lifted group gross margin to 18.85% from 18.01%, with the overseas business at 22%. Net profit fell 20.54% to 12.3 billion yuan. Hungary’s plant began trial production in early 2026 but slipped for volume, and the Turkish plant was put on hold so Hungary could be prioritized.
