Brazil launches antitrust probe into Hapag-Lloyd’s Zim acquisition
Hapag-Lloyd’s CEO said he expected closure of its Zim transaction by year-end, but Brazil has announced a full antitrust investigation into the deal tied to market share on three routes. Approval could be delayed until March 2027. Hapag-Lloyd declined comment, saying it is working with regulators to secure approvals while targeting closing in 2026.
