BP Whiting Workers Picket After Lockout Over Contract Dispute
Workers at BP’s Whiting, Indiana refinery began picketing after the company barred 800+ union members from entering the site. The lockout followed months of stalled contract talks after the Jan. 31 contract expired, with the union saying BP seeks to eliminate 100 jobs, cut wages and remove bargaining rights. Any disruption could tighten fuel supplies as prices stay high.
