Boeing Pays $4.7B to Buy Back Spirit Business Sold in 2005
Boeing will bring Spirit’s commercial airplane operations back in-house after paying $4.7 billion plus assumed debt for a business it sold in 2005 to Onex, closing Dec. 8, 2025. It also holds a stake in Archer to preserve access to Wisk autonomous-flight technology and previously sold Jeppesen and ForeFlight to Thoma Bravo for $10.55 billion, while posting 8% higher revenue and a record $715 billion backlog.
