BHP to Pilot SiTration Copper Recovery Technology at Arizona Mine Site
BHP and MIT spin-out SiTration plan two pilot programmes at BHP’s Copper Cities legacy site in Arizona’s Globe-Miami district to recover copper from mining-impacted water. A one-month small-scale trial will be followed later this year by a larger deployment targeting up to two tonnes of copper cathodes over two months. SiTration says the tests use no chemicals, add no new waste products and consume below 3–4 kWh/kg for recovery.
