Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited faces a fiscal liability of ₹9,28,872 after an order from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs (Air-Cargo), Chennai Commissionerate. The penalty stems from a finding that BHEL wrongly applied Basic Customs duty under tariff heading 9026 instead of 9032, resulting in differential duty of ₹3,55,728.18, interest (as on July 29, 2026) of ₹1,87,415.15, and penalty and fine of ₹3,85,729.00. BHEL said the order is appealable.
