Berkshire Hathaway Operating Earnings Rise $1.8 Billion, Currency Swing Adds $1.2 Billion
Berkshire Hathaway reported second-quarter operating earnings of $12.98 billion, up 16% year over year and about $1.8 billion higher. Roughly $1.2 billion of the increase came from a currency-related item in an “other” category. After adjusting for the currency effect, operating earnings rose to about $12.7 billion from about $12.0 billion. Berkshire Hathaway Energy and BNSF also posted year-over-year gains.
