Barrington proposes cannabis zoning changes for closed International Paper site
Barrington introduced three ordinances to expand, regulate, and tax cannabis sales, with the aim of making the borough’s International Paper facility attractive for new cannabis businesses as the site shuts down. Mayor Kyle Hanson said Monday was the last production date for the plant, which IP said would close in the third quarter of 2026, cutting 126 jobs. The ordinances set distance limits and a 2% transfer tax on most sales.
