Baidu Sets Up Apollo Korea Subsidiary for Robotaxi Expansion

Baidu has set up a Korean subsidiary, Apollo Korea, to pursue its driverless robotaxi business in South Korea. The move follows Waymo’s July entry and heightens competition as high-precision map restrictions ease. Baidu says cumulative autonomous-driving distance exceeds 350 million kilometers, runs Apollo Go and its fully driverless Apollo RT6, and is preparing operations outside mainland China. Waymo is also working with Hyundai on fully driverless verification using the Ioniq 5.
