Waiting periods for Ather Energy scooters have passed four months in some cities, with dealers in several states temporarily refusing new orders as demand runs ahead of production. The gap is expected to stay elevated as Ather sells its mass-market Konarc before its Maharashtra factory fully ramps up. In April-June, it received 1.5 lakh paid preorders versus about 90,000 retail registrations, and expects most of its planned capacity to go to Konarc.
