AT&T may recover $57M after Supreme Court denies Verizon location-data bid
AT&T and Verizon sold real-time customer location data to aggregators, and the FCC fined four carriers in April 2024 over lack of meaningful consent. Verizon paid a $47 million forfeiture under protest but the Supreme Court denied its bid to recover it. AT&T still has a live chance to recover the $57 million it paid.
