Ashok Leyland to invest ₹800–1,000 crore to ramp battery manufacturing
Ashok Leyland plans to invest ₹800 crore to ₹1,000 crore in FY27 to accelerate battery production, electric mobility and alternate fuel technologies, building on its battery localization roadmap. The plan follows a longer ₹5,000 crore effort with CALB Group to develop a domestic battery ecosystem. The company is also progressing a ₹400–₹500 crore greenfield battery pack facility at Pillaipakkam near Chennai and expanding EV business via Switch Mobility.
