Anheuser-Busch sues Tennessee over $1.9M franchise tax refund dispute
Anheuser-Busch is suing Tennessee’s Revenue Commissioner, seeking nearly $1.9 million in franchise tax refunds it says it is owed. The company filed refund claims in August 2025 for $1,886,998 plus interest, arguing the state didn’t decide within six months. It also challenges how Tennessee calculated its taxable net worth and the portion of its business attributed to Tennessee, and says parts of the tax violate constitutional protections.
