Amazon proposes using part of a 170-acre tract in Occum, Norwich, for a 3.8 million-square-foot fulfillment center with 58 loading docks, extensive trailer parking, and 500 full-time job-equivalent estimates at about $23 an hour. The company pitches new tax revenue and about 200 temporary construction jobs, but plans 60.9 acres of impervious area and acknowledges destroying 3 acres of wetlands while proposing mitigation of roughly 9 acres elsewhere.
