Amazon challenges Madison County data center tax valuation

Amazon Web Services challenged the Madison County tax assessor’s valuation of its Canton data centers, arguing the assessment is too high. The tax assessor’s office said a lower valuation would cut next year’s taxes by about $5 million to $6 million for schools and the county, down from an estimate over $28 million, while Amazon cited much lower building values.
